The capital city of India, as it should, is also one on the best tourist sites in the entire country. Unlike any other destination, there is no specific time that one must chose to have the best visiting experience – the city is always awe-striking and very alive. The city is known for its great blend of cultures from the entire country and from the entire world and it doesn’t disappoint in terms of the number of the places to visit, the kind of food available and basically any cultural aspect to be ready and available.

Languages spoken: Hindi, English.

Languages from around the country and even from around the world can be heard in the city, but Hindi and English are the most common languages. If you know either one or both of those languages, you won’t have any major difficulty traveling through the city.

Cuisines

Different cultures mean different food and boy, Delhi doesn’t disappoint. Virtually every possible cuisine from anywhere in the world can be found in the capital. This definitely does not mean that Delhi doesn’t have food specialties of its known. Mughlai and Frontier cuisines are famous worldwide, and Delhi is the epicenter of this delicious extravaganza. Food with traditional Mughal flavors and taste are a huge tourist attraction and must be on the to-do list of every Delhi visitor.

Dance and music:

Another thing that diverse culture brings along is the variety of music and dance, and the entire spectrum of these can be found in the capital city. Theatre and dance shows are major cultural attractions and can be found running almost every day. Traditional dances, cultural plays, and international dramas can be easily found in the city and will surely attract any culturally centered visitor. Another compulsory addition to anyone’s to do list.

Fairs and Festivals

The major tourist attractions of the capital of India also include the fairs and festivals that are organized throughout the year. The winter sports carnival in December, the grand tourism festival at the end of February, the international film festival in July and the perpetually running auto expos are what attracts the majority of the tourists and visitors.

History and Heritage

The history of Delhi is a very long and rich one. It was the capital city even in Mughal times and has been treated so all throughout those years and henceforward. World heritage sites like the Humayun’s Tomb, the Qutab Minar, and the Red Fort have beautiful stories behind them and are even more beautiful to see and feel. Some other destinations that do not have the world heritage site branding to it, but are stunning nonetheless are – Lodi Gardens, Swaminarayan Akshardham. These destinations should be on anyone’s “to hit” list.

Connectivity

Being the capital city of India, it is not surprising to know that the city is connected by air, road and rail very well. Almost all the major International flights land at the airport and every train going northwards stops at the New Delhi junction. Not only that, there are major roads, highways and expressways into and out of New Delhi.
